Kidney Abnormalities can be tested by various blood tests, kidney biopsy, imaging tests and urine tests. Serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and glomerular filtration rate are under blood tests. Urine tests include urinalysis, urine protein, creatinine clearance and micro albuminuria. Ultrasound and CT scan are imaging tests.
Renal abnormalities includes Renal Fusion, Renal adrenal fusion, Polycystic Kidney Disease, nephroblastoma, Urorectal Septum Malformation, renal cysts, Renal Vascular Anomalies, Bladder Exstrophy etc. Prenatal obstructive and renal agenesis/dysgenesis disorders diagnosis are important. Abnormalities also differ by number( renal agenesis ,supernumerary kidney), fusion(horseshoe kidney - most common, cross fused renal ectopia, pancake kidney), location [pelvic kidney, cross lumbar renal ectopia, abnormal renal rotation (renal malrotation), nephroptosis (floating kidney), intrathoracic kidney)], Shape (persistent fetal lobulation, hypertrophied column of Bertin, hilar lip, dromedary hump) etc.
