Dental treatment under general anesthesia may be needed for some children and adolescents due to medical or behaviour problem. The objective of the study is to identify the reasons of GA (General Anesthesia) usage andtype of treatment that has been carried out under GA in Istanbul University, Oral Surgery Department. A retrospective record review study from hospital records of dental patients receiving dental treatment under GA in 2013 were retrieved from the database. Information such as the reason for GA, and the type of treatment provided was recorded in data sheet. A total of 379 cases were treated. Patients were mostly mentally deficient patients. But for the base number and comparison, we are waiting for the statistical results.
Nese Kahraman graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2009. She then joined the PhD programme of Istanbul University, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is still a PhD student in Istanbul University and keeps making researches in surgical dentistry. She is a member of Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (TAOMS). She has authored 3 scientific papers, 23 oral and poster presentations in international congress.
