To study the efficacy of combination therapy using subcision, dermaroller and 15% trichloroacetic acid peel in the treatment of acne scars. 30 patients with atrophic acne scars were enrolled in the study. Their acne scars were graded using Goodman and Baron Qualitative grading system. At first sitting subcision was done for the scars, followed by dermaroller (1.5mm) and 15% TCA peel which were performed alternatively at 2 weeks interval for a total of 6 months. Standardized digital photography was performed pre procedure and at the end of 6 months. Grading of acne scar photographs using the Goodman and Baron Scale was done pre and post procedure at 6 months. Patients own evaluation based on patient scar severity perception scale of 1-10 was taken into account.
Shilpa Garg is presently working as Senior Resident in the Department of Dermatology, Army college of Medical Sciences, Delhi Cantt-10. She has done her DNB Dermatology from Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt and further studies from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. She completed her M.B.B.S from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. She also published 2 articles in reputed journals. She was awarded Best paper in award session in the International Conference of 4 th Spring Meeting of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery ISDS in April 2012. Also received Dr.B.B.Gokhale Medal for presenting the Best paper presentation in award session in National Conference DERMACON 2007 held at Chennai.
