Morbidity rate of diabetes mellitus depends on ethnicity. Oxidative stress indused by hyperglycemia and subsequent cellular damage is thought to be one of the major pathophysiological factors causing late complications in diabetes. We examined 27 patients with diabetes mellitus 1 type (T1D) (age range, 18 to 60 years) and 16 patients with diabetes mellitus 2 type (T2D) (age range, 38 to 58 years) of Russian population; 38 patients with T1D and 17 patients with T2D of analogous age of Buryat population. There were no significant differences in diet habits and physical activity between the patients of both ethnic groups. Spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods were used. In patients with T1D in Russian population there has been marked significant decrease of superoxide ismutase activity for 15% and in patients of Buryat population with T1D ? antioxidant activity increased for 63% compare to controls. In patients with T2D of Buryat population the concentration of reduced glutathione was elevated for 51% compare to control. Thus, antioxidant activity system state in patients with diabetes mellitus of Russian and Buryat populations differ.

Since 1999 until present she is a Director of Scientific Сentre of Family Health and Human Reproduction Problems of Siberian brunch of RAMS (Irkutsk, Russian Federation). She has published more than 400 papers and serving as an editorial board member of some journals.
