Abstract :

Pure squamous cell carcinoma of gallbladder is a rare tumor. We report a case of squamous cell carcinoma of the gallbladder presenting as an intra-abdominal mass. Our patient had an abdominal USG and CT scan examination. In exploratory laparotomy, the mass originating from gall bladder adhering to stomach and duodenum taking place on transverse mesocolon in size of 14x10x4 cm was excised en bloc with gallbladder. There were multiple stones in the gallbladder and D choledocus lumen. Choledocotomy was made and stones were extracted from it and T tube drainage showed that specimen had primary epidermoid carcinoma of gallbladder. Our patient was followed up in medical oncology for 4 months and had no symptoms.

Nuraydin Ozlem Hasan Calis has completed his PhD from Hacettepe University and Post-doctoral studies from Ankara University School of Medicine. He is Director of Ahi Evran University, Department of Surgery. He has published more than 20 papers in several international journals.
