The pediatric cataract is of various types and presents in many forms so that the visual stimulation of the kid is hampered or delayed causing either blindness or visual impairment. The importance of Pediatric cataract surgery lies in the visual rehabilitation of the kids with the socio-economic burden reduction, and prevention of psychological impact on the family and children. The preoperative evaluation and IOL calculation in children is difficult (optical biometry- yields well) and very important which would impact on the final outcome. The selection of particular design of IOL and method determine the quality of vision (e.g. posterios caosulorrhexis and anterior vitrectomy). The screening of all children by an ophthalmologist with dilated pupils eliminates many treatable causes of visual loss like ROP, cataract, congenital glaucoma, corneal dystrophies which may need immediate surgical intervention and the others to follow up at regular intervals for optical and medical needs.
