Obesity as defined by WHO of BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2. remains as universal healthcare challenge with steady increase in the prevalence of obesity. Given the multiple comorbidity and health care cost associated with obesity having multimodal approach to face this issue is very imperative. Intensive behavioral treatment is the first line strategy in achieving weight loss; understanding that Adherence to life style changes is challenging however still attainable. The emerge of GLP-1 Receptor agonists as a drug therapy for obesity has multiple implication and pros and cons which providers should be well conversant to share with their patients.
Currently I am involved in internal medicine residency program as an outpatient and inpatient attending; also I serve as a preceptor to medical students. Currently I play a leadership role in outpatient medical service as a medical director, I was involved in successful application and re certification for our internal medicine practice as a level three patient centered medical home and continue to be actively involved in improving the operations of the clinics.
