Insulin pump is a device used for treatment of diabetes and it works by infusing the insulin continuously through a subcutaneous needle, it has been more popularly used over the last two decades. The randomized controlled trials failed to confirm substantial improvement in HbA1c. The major proven benefits of this device are the improvement in quality of life and decreasing the rate of hypoglycemic episodes. In this study our goal is to assess the impact of insulin pump therapy on all of our patients who have been using this device. Our Primary objective to assess impact of insulin pump therapy on quality of life and glycemic control (HbA1c) and the Secondary objectives to assess the impact on the rate of hypoglycemia, frequency of occurrence of Diabetes Ketoacidosis, hospitalization, and satisfaction with treatment. The method that was used in the research was case control observational retrospective study; all illegible patients on insulin pump will be matched to patients on insulin injections in many aspects. A questionnaire sheet was designed to cover all variables needed to achieve the objectives of the study. Computerized data will be checked for reliability and validity. Frequency tables will be drawn to explore the outcome: frequency tables for all variables showing percentages, measures of central tendency and dispersion and graphics. Contingency tables, T-test, correlation co-efficient and Regression analysis will be done to compare between the study group and the control group at 95 % significance level (p=<.05).
