The present study aimed to evaluate concerns of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and combination therapy about self care. A descriptive design was used. The study was carried out on 122 adult cancer patients at the Oncology Institute in Damietta City. The data were collected using two tools: Socio-demographic characteristics and clinical data sheets and; Concerns of cancer patients. The results of this study revealed that the studied cancer patients in the three treatment modalities were more concerned about side effects of therapy, rest and sleep alteration, nutrition and fluid alteration, work alteration, psychological alteration, social relation alteration, attention and concentration alteration and physician consultation. Statistically significant relations were detected between socio- demographic characteristics of the studied cancer patients in the three group of therapy and concerns about side effects of therapy. Also there were statistically significant differences among patients in three treatment modalities and the age of 60-80 years, urban, married patients and patient diagnosed of cancer from 1 to 3 years and psychological concerns. No statistical significant difference was found between sociodemographic characteristics of patients in three treatment modalities and social relation alteration and spiritual concerns. The study recommended to identify the awareness of nurses about the effect of patient's concerns for compliance to therapeutic maneuvers.
