Dr. Zhiguang Guo is Scientist of the Sanford Project at Sanford Research/USD and
Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Sanford School of Medicine in the University of South Dakota. He has profound expertise and experience in immunology, transplantation, pharmacology and diabetes. Before joining Sanford Health, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota and Director of Basic Research at the Diabetes Institute for Immunology and Transplantation and at the Schulze Diabetes Institute. Dr. Guo graduated from Zhongshen Medical University in China and received his Ph.D. degree in Immunology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany.
The current research in his laboratory is to evaluate and develop therapeutic approaches to treating T1D by ameliorating autoimmunity and promoting beta cell regeneration.
