Professor Toshiaki Watanabe is presently a Professor of Coloproctology in the Department of Surgery at Teikyo University. Prof. Watanabe graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1985 and subsequently joined the hospital as a Resident in the Department of Surgery at the University of Tokyo Hospital. From 1993 to 1994, he served as the Chief Resident in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the National Cancer Centre in Tokyo. In 1995 Professor Watanabe was appointed a Research Fellow at the John Hopkins University, Department of Pathology Oncology. In 1998 Prof. Watanabe was appointed an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology and later as a Lecturer in the University of Tokyo. In 1999 Prof. Watanabe became an Associate Professor in the department of Surgical Oncology at the University of Tokyo. In 2006 he became Professor of the Department of Surgery at Teikyo University.
