Rolf Schreckenberg
Scientific staff member
Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen, Germany
After concluding his medical studies in 2006, the applicant completed his doctoral studies as a graduate of the Giessen graduate school ‘Biological principles of vascular medicine’ on the subject of ‘Regulatory mechanism of the α-adrenergic induced hypertrophic growth of ventricular cardiomyocytes’. He has continued his work as a scientific member of staff at the Physiological Institute of the Justus Liebig University. The current focus of his work in the group led by Professor Schlüter includes research into the molecular and cellular mechanisms that lead to development of cardiac hypertrophy or heart failure considering the important interactions between heart diseases and kidney diseases, also known as cardio-renal-syndrome.
