Ram Ramabhadran is the Acting Division Director of the Integrated Systems Toxicology Division (ISTD) of Environmental Protection Agency’s(EPA’s) National Health and Ecological Effects Laboratory (NHEERL). He obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas (1975), followed by postdoctoral studies at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He has held several positions in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He holds adjunct faculty appointments at the Division of Neurology at the Duke University Medical Center and in the Curriculum in Toxicology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
His research areas include endocrine hormones and their receptors, neuropeptides and their receptors, and development of assays for the interrogation of intracellular signaling pathways involved in hormone action. His current research is focused on methods for rapid identification of environmental toxicants.
