After PhD study at Johns Hopkins University, I worked as postdoctoral fellow at National Institute of Health (NIH) to study endocrine and neuroendocrine disorders such as type II diabetes, obesity, and dysfunctional hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. My major focus was on the identification of molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanism that regulates the activity-dependent secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and HPA hormones. After moving to the Department of Neurosciences at University of Toledo College of Medicine, I have worked on the reposition of natural products for the treatments of neurodegenerative diseases and bone defect. We are currently examining the efficacy of a human food additive for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer’disease, and bone defects.
