Dr. Jingchun Sun is a Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Sun received her Ph.D. degree inBioinformatics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China in 2005. Dr. Sun has more than 10 years of bioinformatics and systems biology research experience and has published more than 40 papers in these areas. Dr. Sun’s research interest is to develop bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to integrate multiple data sets to investigate and discovery the critical molecules for complex diseases and their treatments.
My primary research interest is to develop bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to integrate multiple data sets to investigate and discovery the critical molecules for complex diseases and their treatments. The data sets I work on include knowledge-based biological data sets, gene expression data, genetic epidemiology data such as GWAS, and next generation sequencing data. Specifically, I divide my current research into three areas: (1) network-assisted identification of candidate genes for complex diseases; 2) network pharmacology approach to the discovery of drug off-targets; (3) Co-regulatory network approach to identifying major regulators.
