Dr. Dongbao Chen is Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Experimental Pathology, and the Director of Perinatal Research at University of California Irvine. He received PhD in Reproductive Physiology from China Agricultural University (1991) and postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine (1993-1995) and was a Lalor Fellow at University of Kansas School of Medicine (1995-1998). He was a Research Scientist at University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999-2001) and at University of California San Diego (2001-2003). He was Adjunct Assistant Professor (2003), Assistant Professor (2005), and Associate Professor with tenure (2007) at University of California San Diego. Dr. Chen’s research has been continuously funded by NHLBI, NICHD, AHA and private foundations since 2001. He serves on many grant review panels for National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, and several international agencies. He is ad hoc reviewer of more than ten journals including JCEM, FRBM, AJP and BOR, etc.
His research interest is to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying steroid hormone and growth factor control of vascular tone and angiogenesis at the maternal, fetal and placental interface during pregnancy with focuses on reactive nitrogen and oxygen species.
