Beverley Greenwood-Van Meerveld is the Director of the Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Professor of Physiology, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Adjunct Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center VA Career Scientist She received a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sheffield, UK 1983 She completed his BSc (Special Hons) in Physiology infrom the University of Sheffield, UK 1980 She received the Janssen Award for her basic research in digestive diseases in 2004 She has over 100 peer-reviewed articles, is serving as an editorial board member of reputed journals and reviews for multiple journals.
Dr. Beverley Greenwood-Van Meerveld′s research focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which glucocorticoids affect the expression of stress responsive genes in various brain regions that are critical for regulation of gastrointestinal sensitivity, motility and secretion. Dr. Greenwood-Van Meerveld′s research is also examining the mechanisms of corticoid receptor regulation and glucocorticoid regulation in response to early life trauma, aging and other stress-related disease states.
