Type 1 diabetes in mothers and their relative protection against passing to their children

This study investigates the phenomenon of relative protection against the transmission of Type-1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) from mothers to their offspring. Despite the hereditary nature of T1DM, epidemiological evidence suggests that maternal inheritance may confer a degree of resistance or protection against the development of T1DM in children.
