Application of New Raman Spectroscopic Techniques in Forensic Science
    Author(s): George Wilson*

In the field of forensic science, this article discusses current advancements in and applications of various potent and relatively new Raman spectroscopy techniques. Raman spectroscopy with surface enhancement has been used to sensitively analyse minute quantities of prohibited drugs. For some forensic evidence, shifted excitation Raman difference spectroscopy has been used to get Raman spectra without fluorescence background. Additionally, surface items including explosives and medicines have been directly examined using surface packaging and container materials by spatially offset Raman spectroscopy. For some extremely complex forensic investigation settings, some of these techniques have been combined to develop even more potent tools. All of these techniques have great promise for forensic analysis, assisting in the administration of justice .. View More»
