Penny Hatzimanolakis

I received my dental hygiene diploma from Vancouver Community College in 1994, my Bachelor of Dental Science in Dental Hygiene Degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2004, and my Master of Science in Dental Science Degree from UBC in 2009. My thesis involved a randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of photodysinfection/photodynamic therapy. I continued with another RCT on interdental brushes which I co-author and published two articles in the Canadian Journal of Dental Hygiene.
I work part-time at UBC as a clinical assistant professor and divide my time at UBC between teaching our entry-to-practice dental hygiene students (all four years), dental students (third years), and online dental hygiene degree completion students. I also work in a private periodontal specialty practice for the last 10 years.
Iíve been the Dental Hygiene Representative on the Pacific Dental Conference Committee since 2007.
Iím dedicated to moving our profession to a higher standard of care.
